A New Way for Australians to Shop Second-Hand Uniforms

Every now and then, a side project turns into something bigger. That’s exactly what happened with Rethread - a platform I started building 6 months ago with the idea of helping Australian families buy and sell second-hand school uniforms in a smarter, more sustainable way.

Rethread is a multi-vendor marketplace built on Laravel, Livewire, and Alpine.js, designed to make it easy for parents and students to find affordable kids school clothes that would otherwise end up in landfill. It’s fast, simple to use, and focused entirely on the school clothing space—something that didn’t exist before in a way that actually worked.

Why? Because I’ve lived the pain of getting kids ready for school while juggling life, budgets, and the overwhelming pile of uniforms they outgrow in a few months. I knew there had to be a better way - and so I built one.

What Rethread Offers:

  • Browse by school to find exactly what you need
  • Tag-based filtering for sizes, condition, and type of item
  • Secure checkout using Stripe (with more payment options coming soon)
  • A simple messaging system between buyers and sellers
  • Visibility into your sustainability impact as you participate

Whether you’re clearing out uniforms from last year, or trying to save money on a new set, Rethread helps keep school clothes in circulation—and out of landfill.

It’s still early days, but the feedback has been amazing. If you’re in Australia and want to shop or sell second-hand uniforms the easy way, check it out: https://rethread.com.au

And if you're building something meaningful and want to chat about product, tech, or strategy - my inbox is always open.
